What is your criteria about making a thread sticky ? It is stickied when it requires member attention or when you are promoting a particular content ?
Both I think. For example, more "traditional" forums use sticky posts to set out forum guidelines etc, or "read this before you post" etc.
Yes, that is how I have seen them mostly. " Read before you post " kind of threads.
Why suddenly this promotional trend. I know forums which takes money to put your thread sticky. As in 30 days, 45 days etc.
Abhi I think it's very much like Google Search. You can "pay your way" to the top 🙂
It is a good source of revenue for many big forums. Considering that Adsense is no more viable.
But it irritates me sometimes. There too many useless stickies to pass before you actually find anything useful.
That is a good thing for webmaster who want to earn harmless money. Nobody is going to become angry about this. What if there is a couple of stickies, let them do it.
