How hard is to set up and maintain a data centre for hosting services ? Do you have experience with one ?
Is it a very costly affair ?
It is expensive, hard, with a lot of legal issues. If you are going to start a data centre, make sure that
admin Local govt bodies are friendly to you
Is this so important ?
Depends on where you are hosting the data centre. But more or less very important as they can create all types of unwanted headaches for you.
admin they can create all types of unwanted headaches for you.
That applies to any business. But what you said is correct, when the investment is this high, it is wise to avoid unwanted trouble.
That is why it is always best to leave this to a country where they encourage and support data center rather than fight with them.
It is the same everywhere Jason . They will expect you to take special care of them everywhere.
Some countries are a tone better. But in the end, both of you are correct.
One thing missing here (unless I missed it) is the ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) side of things. Setting up a data centre is one thing, but ensuring you comply with ESG in the sense of recyclable and renewable energy etc, then it's a hard sell to clients if you can't prove that your servers make use of green energy and hence are environmentally friendly.
phenomlab then it's a hard sell to clients if you can't prove that your servers make use of green energy
I haven't heard of this before in the context of data centres.
Abhi really ? This is big news and has been for some time
I mean, of all the hosting websites I visit, there was no indication of such a preference.
