phenomlab Interestingly, the general consensus from the WordPress community is that users loathe Gutenberg.
I’m one of the many that gave Gutenberg a 1 star review. Which in hindsight may be a little harsh. I may change my review to about 3 stars.
My main gripe is it gets laggy. Depending on the plugins you use, and/or the blocks you add, suddenly it will start taking a couple seconds just to type a letter. For me, this starts happening if I use the HTML block.
But, if they can somehow make it faster... more lightweight... it’d be amazing.
In my opinion WordPress should have instead replaced TinyMCE with a better classic style editor. Then, kept Gutenberg as an optional plugin. By default, WordPress should install with a minimal, clean, fast classic editor. And then for the page builder folks, they can install Gutenberg. Heck, they could even have new WordPress installs come with the Gutenberg plugin, just not activated. They used to do that with Jetpack.
Speaking of Jetpack... that’s interesting come to think of it. They stopped packaging WordPress with it by default. Which I like. So, sometimes the WordPress gods come to their senses and stop pushing the extras.
