Do you know that time spent on website has a huge impact on SEO ? What are your tricks to improve it ?
It is of great importance, yes. Try to engage visitors as much as you can. Try not to trick them, keep interesting content ready for visitors in landing page. That is where sidebar plays a big role. Decently spread Menus can work well too.
No one talked about Menu in this context before. Now that we have it at hand, it does seem an important method to keep people engaging. ie, Menu with entries like News, Resources etc can make uses spend more time as they are global.
According to some resources I referred, keeping visitors for at least 2 to 3 minutes on your website is very productive with organic SEO.
Abhi keeping visitors for at least 2 to 3 minutes on your website is very productive with organic SEO.
Probably right ? I normally aim that visitors doesn't have to leave abruptly. Rest I leave to the content and layout.
Some webmasters think that long posts are helpful. But like in case of videos, people will move on it is more than 4-5 minutes read.
Hmm in my forum few stay for more than 3 minutes that is good then. Need to be more creative to make my users stay little longer.
That is good news. Normally webmasters use " Related Topics " plugin to make sure that people won't wander off after reading one topic.
Don't put everything in one shot. Gradual feeding is the best method.
I agree. The use of internal links could be fruitful, right ?
Discussion based forums puts focus on latest topics. Hot topics widgets would have been nice to have.

We have 4 options here, which comes in a drop down menu. Now that you mentioned, let me see whether it can be put in a horizontal manner. Less hidden that way.
I never considered it before about time spent on a site. It makes sense though and if you can get them to explore the site even further then that helps too. What types of things actually keep people on a site but good content and things that interest them?

Since my forum is holistic & eco-friendly, I try to use it as an educational guide. I used to post the whole article but now I post a snippet so people can then go to the site for further info if they want. I also want my forum to have info that other forums don't generally have. But, with that said, I do have General areas for those who are not holistic & just want to post.
ZandraJoi I used to post the whole article but now
Don't copy paste anything. It is illegal and does not go well with Google
ZandraJoi I post a snippet so people can then go to the site for further info
make sure that you use the[quote] tag. It is not 100% justified, but that is how this is played
admin I do have the link then I put the snippet/ article in quotation marks.
ZandraJoi I am afraid it is still illegal. But the same as downloading songs - probably.
Interesting. I've quoted websites before & have seen many other forums do it as well. Not to mention downloading memes all the time. I don't know how else to talk about something without being able to quote the article to get discussions going.
They won't bother you unless they have some particular reason to do it. But we cannot use another person's copyright work without written consent.

Agree. It happens everywhere. Doesn't make it legal though.
Abhi Agree. It happens everywhere. Doesn't make it legal though.
I agree with that statement! There's so many laws out there 'on the books', some don't bother with the little things like this it seems. & like you said, unless they have a particular reason.
