Abhi Notepad on its own is only useful these days for stripping formatting on text from an external source. It's almost useless as an IDE when it's missing even basic stuff like line numbers for example. Notepad++ addressed these issues and reigned supreme for years, but with the arrival of GitHub ATOM and VSCode (cut down version of Visual Studio) and both being free, the writing is on the wall for Notepad++. There are a variety of others, such as Sublime Text (not my sort of thing though), but these don't reach the heights of VSCode. I started using this for an app I'm writing for work and love it.
Something I never thought I'd say about a Microsoft product.
