WordPress now officially supports Blocks. That is nothing new, WordPress had this feature through plugins for a long time. The Blocks feature itself is 1 year old in core WordPress. Is this the path WordPress plan to take in future ? A CMS which deals with building blocks wherever possible ? It definitely sounds interesting for non pro users like me.
Plugin developers made sure that it is the way WordPress should choose. There were always some plugins which acted as if you are a primary school kid and cannot understand any basic coding language. It makes sure that they get more sales and revenue through this approach. All you need is the ability to pay for the service, everything else is taken care of by the plugin authors.
I don't think that is bad. People do wonderful things with Linux. But it would be foolish them to force command line on them. That is why desktop environments are flourishing. The same thing goes for any drag and drop tool. There is no need to be a monkey when we have stairs to the roof.
