Every open-source software now blames itself for being a hobby and volunteer project when someone throws a hard bone at them. While it is rude to be harsh at people who dedicate their time to open and free code, it remains a question that projects like Discord is easily taking over their paid alternatives.
I think they have a few paid staff. But that is nothing compared to their competition. The money Xenforo and the likes generate is not even close to what Discourse must be making.
