Have you ever tried to use free hosting? How was your experience?
I haven't used free hosting for years. I rarely find free hosts that aren't sketchy in some way, and I wouldn't want to entrust my data to them.
Everyone starts with free hosting. That is where we learn the basics.
I was given some space by someone I know from the internet. That I how I started my first blog. It is not free hosting as it would actually mean but free in terms of cost.
When I had my first forum 15 years ago, my friend & I tried a paid one. We were in way over our heads not being knowledgable at all. Then we found Proboards. When I made this newer one, I went back to Proboards for the ease of use. I'm hoping that if I learn enough, I may be able to own my own board. But we'll see 🙂

Well I meant ease of use for those of us who are not tech savvy at all.
I had use free hosting and my experience was good. For free the hosting provider did a great job. Now i use only paid hosting

That is the purpose of a managed solution. The will " manage " the backend. All you have to do is to take care of the admin control panel related controls.
If I understand correctly, even ACP maintenance is also covered in some plans.
If someone starts a project would you recommend a free hosting or paid ?
Jason would you recommend a free hosting or paid ?
me ? At this moment, I do not see many good and reliable free options.
Abhi What about byethost. A very decent free hosting company
Do you recommend them ? The problem is almost all free hosts will be mis-used. So our content will be on the same rack along with those Google does not like.
If I cannot afford basic shared hosting, free hosting is the only choice.
Some of the free hosts are very good. But they have a lot of things beyond their control. So I would like to stay with hosts which are liable to its consumers in a moral way for serious projects.
There is nothing wrong with free hosts, I have used some. But some pack of users make the whole business model difficult to work just like in the case of paid hosting.
